CITIZENSHIP ACTIONS : A STEP TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

110420-CP-1-2003-1-FR-GRUNDTVIG-G1

The objectives

  • Favour the chances of equality and social cohesion of young disadvantaged people, who are in danger of exclusion
  • Help them to stay on the pathway of their training courses / integration by making learning more attractive
  • Valorise their self-esteem as active citizens of a democratic society

Our proposition

In existing frameworks of training, to realise a collective project open on social environment.

Citizen actions can be of community interest - building a youth club in a neighbourhood, a specific action to protect environment, a work site in third world countries - or they can be of a more symbolic type - neighbourhood animation, open-days in the network of the fight against racism or xenophobia, etc.

The joint realisation of creative and constructive activities helps those concerned find their place within the group through self-projection, and therefore visualise their place in society.

To carry out a social marketing action, we experiment the method by accompanying young adults during the fulfilment of a « Citizenship action » and we transmit information about this action

The main activities

Because of the variety of structures’ networks, of targeted publics and of each partners’ culture, the project should lead to the creation of a method and produce that should reply to all desires to conjugate citizenship and equal rights. The partnership establishes a common framework, which must then be adapted to each structure of application.

1. Creation of training units and tools : carried out by researchers from project organisations who take into account other trainers’ opinions. The associated partners, and young people who belong to the targeted public also give their opinion on undertaken projects. Each organisation is charged to collect information and is responsible of the fulfilment of a unit or a product. The group validates the method during transnational seminaries.

2. Socialisation of the method: the two accomplished transnational methodology transfer sessions permit each structure to take knowledge of present members’ works and to adapt them to be suitable to their own particular context : participants are those who will carry out experimentation, but also those who will multiply teacher, trainer and social workers training.

3. Experiment the Citizenship Actions: each national partner evaluates methodology and tools by doing at least a citizenship action, defined in function of authorisation by institutional systems. Two important points are implication in, and management of the project by young adults themselves.

4. Dissemination and transfer: multiply the method adapted to different contexts - Mobilise institutional partners to appropriate the action and integrate it into their own work methods

Impact

Enhance the young adults self-esteem and improve their vision of their environment- keep the young adults in training courses until they are socially and professionally integrated - Adhesion of institutions to the project.
